Is Cinergy Health Insurance plan true insurance, website shows both Discount Medical Plan and Health Insurance?
Is Cinergy Health Insurance plan true insurance. Their website shows both Discount Medical Plan and Health Insurance Plan. I saw similar question on the following link but replies talk about only Discount Medical Plan. So now I am wondering, is it only Discount Medical Plan or they do also offer health insurance plans too? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080903092605AAiNLnv

- Yes, they have plans that are true insurance. However, they are basic defined benefit plans with many limitations, not major medical insurance. It is expensive for what you get unless you have pre-existing conditions that would prevent you from getting a major medical plan. A common scenario would be if you get in a bad accident and wind up in the intensive care unit for the average 2 day stay and a regular hospital bed for the average 3 day stay. This would cost a minimum of $26,000. Cinergy will pay $5000 and you'll pay $19,000+. If you get a major medical, such as a $5000 deductible plan with $2500 co-insurance all you'll pay is the deductible and co-insurance, which would be a maximum of $7500. Still a lot of money but nowhere near what you'd pay with Cinergy.
