Aetna copay for giving birth?

I am 23 weeks pregnant, My health insurance is Aetna NAP, I am wondering if anyone will know how much my bill will be after I give birth?(inc circumcision) I have to copay $20 at my ob/gyn and copay $40 for ultrasounds. I am really worried about how much the medical bill will be as I am struggling to keep my head above water as it is with these copays.

  1. You should call the insurance company or the billing office at the hospital. You will get the actual facts from them.
  2. First call the hospital billing office, they can give you an estimate of charges for a vaginal birth, in patient hospital stay. Then, call your insurance company and ask them what kind of coverage you have for in patient hospital stays. From there you should be able to estimate what your out of pocket costs will be.
  3. It all depends on your employer and your actual plan. Your best bet would be to call Aetna directly and inquire about your benefits. Another option would be to go online (if Aetna offers it) and check your benefits there. Also, keep in mind that you cannot just get an amount from the hospital, and get your benefit information from your insurance. All participating health care providers have contracts with Aetna, so your amount due will be considerably less. As an example, I will use what my c-section cost me, OK? The original billed about was $16,879. The provider's contract with my insurance stated that they were only allowed to bill $4,800. My coinsurance was 10%, so I ended up owing $480 and my insurance paid $4320. Now, as long as your provider and hosptial are contracting with Aetna, they cannot bill you for the difference between what they allow and what was billed. Make sense? Good luck and congrats on your expected arrival!
  4. I'm on Aetna as well and I just got my bill in the mail yesterday... $5,786.00.. But they didn't cover my Epidural which was $1,114.00! My total hospital bill before they paid for some was almost $19,000.00!! My ultrasounds were $50.00 when I was pregnant.
