- I have Aetna. There are better companies out there, but any health insurance from a company is better than nothing. Plus, your company probably does not have many other choices. Just consider yourself lucky and take advantage.
- It's hard to say if Aetna is offering a good plan. Aetna themselves is a great company! It depends on the package that you're being offered. Aetna could offer 100 different plans. You need to look at what the plan covers, your deductible, your out of pocket maximum. That will tell you if it's a good plan.
- Aetna and Guardian are solid, reputable companies. They each have a variety of PLANS. Shop the PLAN, compare the PLAN, not the company name.
- Aetna has come a long way from the days when they were merged with US Healthcare. Aetna is one of the oldest health insurance companies for group health plans. Guardian Dental PPO is not bad. However, look into the dental plan details. Most of them are a means to save money out of pocket with not a whole lot of benefits. Most of the time a dental plan will cover cleanings and annual visits 100%. After that you are most of the time going to receive a discount. Usually 30% or more. One other thing you could do is shop around the benefits. See what it would cost you to purchase on your own versus employment benefits. Sometimes it could be cheaper going outside your company. Good luck.
- my aetna plan was great and awesome. i don't have it anymore because my husband switched jobs. i had a $16,000 tonsillectomy that aetna covered 100% with the plan that i had. I didn't even have a co pay because it was an outpatient surgery. my plan had a doctor's copay but aetna pretty much covered everything else. so depending on what plan your employer gets from aetna will determine how great your coverage will be. I haven't had any experience with guardian dental though. i never had any problems with aetna and i went to the dr's a few times.
