dentist wants me to use full $5000 with my flexible spending benefits?

and thats $5,000 plus my metlife insurance already. I need a lot of dental work. i dont know if i should call another dentist or not to find something cheaper. i need 2 root canals, wisdom teeth taken out, crowns. and eventually braces. But i also have other priorities. i have rent, car note, insurance, student loans, water, gas and electric, food. how can i fix this??

  1. crowns average 600-1200$ depending in geography, wizzy extractions 250.00 ,canals can be 400-700 .
  2. Just do like my daughter did and get one thing done at a time...she didn't even have dental insurance but found a nice dentist who would work with her...she couldn't use all her money for dental work either...bills, rent, etc. were due...so find your nice dentist who will agree to let you pay on the work and start with the worst tooth and work up to the least bad tooth...and do you really need braces? Sounds fishy to me...so get a second and even third opinion and ask people you know about their dentist too...
  3. Sounds like a Dentist needs to make a payment on his condo in Maui. Maybe momma needs a new Mercedes. You have to remember that not only are they Dentists but they are also small business owners. If your not in immediate pain then you need to set the pace of the work performed. Have work done over time and what you can budget for. If you let them dictate the price and pace you'll end up owning them more than you can pay. Then they'll sell your account to debit collectors. You don't want that.
  4. My dentist was able to help me understand the braces procedure clearly to me. They should be able to answer your questions. If you can't find a dentist that can help, try finding one here: http://www.addictionselfhelp.com
