Has anyone had any experience with Cinergy Health's discount plan?
My in-laws recently signed up with Cinergy Health's discount plan. Of course, they made it sound like insurance to her (right now they have none). It sounds too good to be true which means it probably is. I was curious if anyone had any actual experience with the program and if it was actually worth it in real life and not just on paper, esp. if you are in the Detroit, MI area.

- Most of the people here in "Insurance" work in the insurance industry and don't believe that "discount" plans are the answer. They are sold, most times, by unlicensed, untrained multi-level-marketing organizations. Discounts are great, but if your parents did not have insurance, they could do some negotiating for discounts themselves. Insurance, however, guarantees that, if a network provider is used, the insurance company-negotiated discounts will be charged. This is true whether they have a deductible or copays for service. I would suggest that you get them to sit down with a licensed independent health insurance agent in your area and look at available options that can help them, given their health and financial situation. By the way, if the individual that sold them this program represented it as insurance, they should be reported to the appropriate officials in your state, like the Department of Insurance or the Attorney General's Office.
