Should I buy an AARP health insurance plan?

I see commercials for these plans all the time on TV - are they worth it?

The AARP health insurance plans that you see mentioned on TV are really plans that are underwritten through United Healthcare and just using the AARP brand name so they are definitely plans from a strong company. However, the AARP plans are just supplemental plans as far as I can tell. They may offer some full coverage comprehensive major medical plans in some states but all that I have seen is just supplemental type plans. If you are under the age of 65 then make sure to shop around and compare quotes from many reputable companies that offer full coverage health insurance plans.
