How to find affordable health insurance?
I am a single mom with a decent income. I make too much money to qualify for health coverage through my state but not enough money to pay all of my bills and afford health insurance. My employer does not offer benefits. The cheapest insurance I have found so far would cost me nearly $500 per month! To top it off, I think I may be pregnant, and I am sure it will be difficult to get any insurance if I am.

- You don't say where you are to recommend anything other than finding an insurance broker to help you out. BUT, if you are already pregnant (EVEN if you haven't confirmed it) then no insurance company will take you.
- Wow, for $500 a month, either you're asking for maternity coverage, or you're over 45, or you're overweight or not healthy. And that maternity coverage, has a wait of at least 12 months, before you can get PREGNANT, to have the pregnancy covered. Yes, if you're pregnant now, you're uninsurable. On ANY plan, except through an employer. Even without maternity benefits. And for life insurance, too. Your best bet is to reapply for welfare health insurance, under your state children's health insurance plan.
- Try getting an online insurance quote It's free and generally hassle free. http://www.multipleautoinsurancequotes.com
- Is your child of school age (between 5 - 18)? United Healthcare offers "kids only" health insurance plans that provide children's coverage for sickness and accidents. Their plans are written through school districts and many private K12 schools throughout the US. Their health plan is designed to be affordable, at just $98 every 2 months. Check out www.k12studentinsurance.com to see if your child's school district (or private school) is participating. Click on the "Plans & Pricing" tab, enter the district name or private school name and the state in the search box and review the plans. If you don’t find your child’s school district, call UnitedHealthcare StudentResources at 888-282-5957 to see about adding it.
