  1. There are no special plans for the self-employed. You just need to find an insurance broker to help you find an individual plan.
  2. ~~You did not mention the state you live in and this makes a huge difference. If you reside in CA,WA,OR,HI,NV, then you can obtain coverage through the Costco health plan for business. It's an awesome insurance company United Healthcare which is one of the largest, coverage is excellent, with varying plan to get the premium which works best for you. We have had them for years and we even have very good dental also. So if you live in a qualifying state you can check out the information at www.costco.com and click on members services. The girl who helped us get ours is Lisa and her number is 1-800-611-9057 ext# 2206. She had our application through in a flash and worked hard at getting us just what we needed. Good luck, it's the best so I hope you live in a qualifying state.~~
  3. Call a local agent. The policies available depend on where you live. An experienced agent can narrow down your options to one that best fits your needs, and that you can afford in just a few minutes. Avoid the online shopping, there is just simply too much information, and too many scams to watch out for. Don http://mtnhealthinsurance.com

  6. I am not in Texas but I found a very reasonable (As far as health insurance goes) policy through a site http://www.InsuranceEasy.org They have a section devoted to health insurance that has links to different companies that will provide you free quotes. I can't remember how many links they had but I filled each of them and ended up receiving quotes from 30 or 40 companies and agents that did business in my area. I am sure that it would work the same for someone in Texas.
  7. Well, it depends on definition of affordability. I was looking recently for it and wasn’t able to find anything cheaper than $1200 per month for family of 4.
