Are there any agencies that I can get assistance on a hospital bill that I can't afford to pay.?

The bill ws over $10,000 for a bad stomach ache ( i thought I had food poisening) The hospital did a full body scan that ran $5,000 an ultrasound & an mri. The problem was only gas pressure.

1. Go to your city social services. They can help you anything. You can also go to your family doctor and they can show you some program that will help you assist in medical bills. You can also set up financing with the hospital instead of paying one big limp sum.
2. Some hospitals have a charity program, you would have to ask. There is also Medicaid, you can get what is called a back dated card. But both of those depend on your income. Some church organizations have programs for that as well, but again it depends on your income. 3. You can pay the hospital monthly and just send them as much as you have. They will not report to the credit bureau. Call their accounting department and tell them you can't afford it and will pay whatever amount monthly that you can. My brother had a similar situation...last month he paid $10.00 and this month he had a little more so he paid $50.00.
4. I feel your pain! I have insurance, but even so ended up with thousands of dollars owed when in the hospital for a week. I submitted my income info to the hospital's billing dept. (they sent me a form), and they only made me pay 20% of the balance. Then, I set up a payment plan for $10 a month. Took me a while to pay, but it was a great plan for me. They will work with you, just talk to the billing department. They deal with this all the time. :)
