New Aetna Medical insurance?

Don't have the cards yet, just temporary printed ones. They only have group numbers on them, no member ID numbers. Any idea what I'll need from Aetna to provide to my son's pediatrician to get his 1 year check up covered by the insurance?

  1. When you go to the Ped office, tell them you just got new insurance and give them Aetna's phone number (they have a special number just for providers to call) and they office will find out what is covered and what your co-pay is. If you want to do it ahead of time, try calling the Ped beforehand and tell them all this information over the phone. They deal with insurance companies all day long and know what to say and do.
  2. Hi- do NOT expect your office to call and figure out your copay and benefits for you at your appointment, most offices consider this patient responsibility and will not pick up the phone and hold for 20 minutes with the insurance company for an office visit to figure out your info. Just give the office your card and more than likely your son's ss# will be what they will use, unless the insurance card has a different name on it- like yours or your hubby's. Then they will need the policy holder's info.
