Need health insurance for my wife. she is pregnant. We live in Texas. Who would you recommend. Can you also please mention the rate. P.S. I am self employed so is she. neither of us have insurance, but at the moment she is the only one who needs insurance. Thanks well, would my wife qualify if our combined household income is above 80K?

1. You could check and see if you qualify for Medicaid. Sometimes it's easier to qualify if you are pregnant as states want to make sure moms/babies get good prenatal care.
2. call the health dept and see if you can get some free, if not see which your hospital takes and go with that company
3. It is going to be very difficult to find an insurance company who will insure an already pregnant woman. You should try to go through esurance.com, and see what they say. Depending on your income, you can try Medicaid, they give pregnant women insurance all the time to make sure of prenatal care, but it it just temporary, just for the pregnancy.
4. I would recommend Allstate. It is really taking good care of my mom.
5. You might not be able to get anything to cover the pregnancy. Many insurances consider pregnancy an existing disease/condition that they wont cover. Meaning if she is pregnant now the insurance might not cover the pregancy at all because she was pregnant BEFORE she got the insurance. I suggest looking into welfare insurance for your wife/ state insurance. She might qualify. Also look into having a home birth with a midwife. They are usually licensed nurses who do home births (a midwife). It is much less expensive then a hospital birth and if there is a problem they will just take her to the hospital during the birth.
6. I believe that you will not qualify for medicaid because of your income. I was able to get into my husbands insurance plan when i was 4months pregnant with no problem. Aetna covered almost everything, well 85% of hospital, obgyn, pediatrician, and everything else. If you ask me it is a really good insurance.
