How do I get a full-body scan to look for any cancers or diseases that would show up?
I want to get one of those full-body scans. How would I go about getting one? I don't want some doctor to tell me "you don't need it". It's my money, and I want it... so how do I get one?

- MRI scan.
- opk
- Go to the doctor, and tell them. If he says no, go to the front desk of the hospital or something. Hospitals always accept money lol.
- Get a referral from a doctor, and if he sayss no then you need a new doctor
- CT scan.
- So if the doctor tells you that you don't need it, just say you want it and your willing to pay for it. What's the worse that could happen?
- go to an MRI center they are everywhere call make app tell them what you want ..they will tell u insurance wont cover without dr tell them you ll pay for it
- What you're asking for is a PET scan. They scan the body for cancer. An MRI will not show up cancer. If it's not deemed needed by your doctor, he can still refer you for the PET scan but be prepared to pay out of pocket as insurance won't cover it and the test costs thousands of dollars. You can also call to see what it will cost you at each facility so you can have enough to pay or they won't do the test.
- You can probably get a private clinic in your area to do the scan. The problem that you are going to run into is that the scan will have to be seen by half a dozen specialists who will charge theuir usual rate. They may not be keen to make their diagnosed patients wait while they deal with you. If they find anything at all out of the ordinary - we all have minor things - you will have to pay to get more scans, even if it doesn't look like a big deal. Then you should do the whole thing over again in six months.
- Go to a hospital and have one. If you really are willing to pay full retail up front for one, most hospital directors would LOVE to help you, you are looking at thousands & thousands & thousands of dollars... (BTW...they aren't going to find anything. Doctors are scared of being sued for missing anything, so will often give patients MORE diagnostic tests than are necessary to avoid missing anything....but, hey, it's your money!)
- If you are talking about a PET scan . . they cost between $3000 and $6000. A doctor needs to order one and if you have insurance there is a special review board that will determine if they will pay for it or not. If it is a CT you want . . a full body scan is about $3000 or more . . they also need to be ordered by your doctor and require approval from your insurance company. The problem you will encounter is that you will need more than one scan . . the first scan is called the 'baseline' scan . . . they than will wait three months and repeat the scan a second time . .it is the second scan which can than be used to look for cancer. The radiologist will compare the first scan to the second scan and look for irregularitites. If you have no symptoms or reason for the scans . .you will find it extremely difficult to find a doctor willing to order a full body scan. Looking for cancer is like looking for a needle in a haystack . . especially if it is not yet visible. A doctor needs to have an idea where to look in the body . . and if the cancer is small or hidden behind organs . . than it can be easily missed. Good luck with your decision.
