hi..i am thinking about majoring in medical assistant..one of the courses i need to take will be medical billing and coding in which you learn about the different insurnce companies..is insurance companies part of financial services..if so, how and what do u learn..does it involve reading financial statements

  1. Billing and coding doesn't really have anything to do with financial statements. The classes teaches you the codes for different medical procedure, appointments, diagnosis and things like that. The billing part is how much each code charges. There is a different code for everything, down to a box of Kleenex. It should have anything to do with reading financial statements, just making sure you bill the insurance companies correctly, some companies don't pay certain codes and they will deny payment of many other codes.   3. A medical assistant has nothing to do with financial services at all. If you want to learn how to read them, you can also take a class that deals with financial statements and things.
