How can an American living overseas get travel/medical insurance (at low cost) when visiting the States?

- See the source. It's pretty easy, if you have a credit card. However, I don't know what you mean by cheap...The cheapest I've seen is around 150 for one month.
- Very easy, there are several insurance companies that will provide medical insurance for vacations/travel -usually up to 6 weeks at a time (you can pay extra for extra days). The yearly fee for such insurances is very low - around $20!!! -or less! (actually $9 was the cheapest I ever saw) However, it is important what your status is in the particular country where you insure yourself (citizen/resident or not ) You can browse the internet, or ask at a local travel agency of the country you reside in. Some credit cards in Europe already come with this service without paying extra.
- I don't know what you mean by low cost, but I know of only 1 company that will cover you for medical insurance when you go to your country of citizenship. The provider is SRI. You can get the details & prices here: http://travelhealthinsurance.net/liaison.html
