Is there a way I can get cheap dental and medical insurance for me and my daughters?
I am now employed with someone who does not give benefits but is willing to give me $300 extra a month for insurance out side of work. I have always had insurance provided to me from work, so I don't know what to do and how expensive it is going to be! If anyone could help me that would be great! I live in texas. Oh and when i said he is giving me 300 for insurance outside of work, i meant, he is going to add 300 extra to my paycheck and i will use that to get insurance from a non-work insurance company (haha i dont know what to call it)

- it will be very hard to get family insurance for $300 a month ...next to impossible in fact. You would be better off to have him NOT pay you that extra, and see if you all qualify for Medicaid ...it's free, but you have to be very low income to qualify. Good luck
- all i can say is "good luck" finding insurance for you and your children for $300. with my employers paying for most of my insurance, employee and spouse coverage is over $400 a month just for medical. dental coverage is not included in that price.
- We pay for our own insurance while my hubby is in seminary. We live in Kentucky, and we just got our kids on state insurance. Worth the half day I spent at the Welfare office. Also, we are insured through Aetna...spec for us, Tennessee Rurual Health through Farm Bureau. It's about $300 per month for a family. It is really good. We have $1000 deductible and have $15 copays. Coverage is great. You also don't have to live in TN to have it, but your state might have something comparable. Also, for dental, look into a dental discount plan like Carington or Aetna dental, etc. You can pay around $10 a month and get some great discounts--and some of them include vision and pharmacy discounts also. Dental insurance is just not worth it. It's not hopeless and you will be able to find something that will work--it just takes some research. Good luck! :)

- Private, it's called private insurance. I haven't seen a private dental policy that pays out more than it costs. A good, low deductible health insurance plan - assuming you're healthy - is going to cost about $200 per kid, per month, and about $300 per month if you're a 30 something healthy adult. If there's stuff wrong, it costs more, or they won't cover the "stuff".
- Many states (I do not know if Texas is one of them) can provide health/dental coverage for your kids. There may be limits on income and such. You will have to do some research on your own. As for private insurance coverage, $300 per month won't provide much coverage. Contact Blue Cross/Blue Shield in your area for a quote.
