Do any dental plans or insurance providers cover sedation?
Public Comments
- SINCE THIS IS CODED AS A DENTAL PROCEDURE THERE IS COVERAGE.
- Most dental insurers cover sedation (and general anesthetic) during a dental procedure. If you have dental insurance, and your dentist has scheduled you for a procedure, he/she or the office staff will know exactly what is covered by your insurance. II had general anesthesia to have my wisdom teeth removed. The anesthesia was covered, but apparently during the procedure I awoke and had to be given more medication, which the insurer did not cover; the additional cost was $300.
- As a sedation patient for over 20 years and fighting insurance companies for 10 years to have them cover this area , your question is an important one! Insurance benefits vary greatly from company to company and from contract to contract. your dentist office can help you find out what benefits may be available.
