Experienced in medical insurance?

If there is any1 out there who has either worked 4 or with an insurance co, could U possibly tell me how long I should wait after start of insurance 2 present a medical problem that will require major surgery (hernia repair), so that the insurance will cover as much as possible? If it is any help, its my spouse (who is covered) needing the attention, and we have Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Options PPO through my place of work. Thank you.

1. I've worked in health insurance for 8 years. I'm assuming you've gone from one work policy to another. Because your coverage is being provided through work you shouldn't have an issue. It doesn't work the same way as it would if you had purchased an individual policy on your own. The only "repercussions" will likely be that next year when BCBS renews your company policy the renewal rates will be significantly higher because of "sick" employees.
