Cheap/free Therapy?

Basically I want to get some therapy sessions in order to help my relationship with my girlfriend. Ive got some personal built up issues that are really starting to affect us. I dont really know how it works (as far as billing, etc) I have blue cross medical insurance, but I dont think that would cover something like therapy. I assume it can be pretty exspensive, but I cant afford much. Plus I know many jobs ask if you have undergone therapy, and I fear the outcome of that (being thought of as psycho ?). If anyone could provide me with information or help to pin-point a low cost therapist, I would be most grateful. Located in CA, USA

  1. It's hard to give you specific advice not even knowing what Country you are in. However assuming you are in Canada or the USA -check your insurance as it may include councelling. If not then see your Doctor and he/she can advise you where to get free or inexpensive or subsidized councelling. Further it is not the business of a prospective or current employer what mental health issues, medications, therapy etc that any employee has-learn to lie and keep your business to yourself. Edit: How can someone give you specific information on a therapist without knowing even what State, Province, COUNTRY you are in?? Secondly most therapists bill according to a 'sliding scale' this means you prove what your income is and you pay accordingly -meaning if you have a low to moderate income you will be given a heavy discount.
  2. contact your state or city govenment and talk with thier social services department or human services and they should direct you to free or dirt cheap therapy from the state. they charge on a sliding scale. a session may cost you 5 or 10 bucks.
  3. feel free to take my cheap therapy.
