I am aware you cant opt out, i was just wondering Kit - I mean insuarnce premuims, not actual appiontments
Is ptosis covered by private medical insurance? Is ptosis covered by private medical insurance in the UK please? I have had it rejected by Pru Health and wonder if it is worth making a complaint as I hear other Insurance companies do cover it. .
How do i report private medical insurance fraud by a doctor? I went to a plastic surgeon for a cosmetic procedure. She somehow convinced me that this is covered by my health insurance (private) because it is an airway obstruction. The doctor ended up doing unnecessary work which has results in permanent pain and damage. She billed insurance about $50,000 in addition to what I paid her. I've heard she does this to others. I called the insurance company and they said there is nothing they can do about it. Huh? Any ideas on how I can report this fraud and to whom?
How would private medical insurance companies Handel a pandemic flu out break? I know Republicans are so dead set against Universal Health care . People with out medical care will certainly spread disease with out even knowing it . Poor working class people who can not afford Medical insurance will certainly go to work with the flu or risk losing their income . People who work at restaurants drive a cab or work at a grocery store (who handle money BTW ) seldom have health INS. This is how the flu spreads so quickly. Older Christian Here BTW g tw3 I like your answers
If Canada switched to private medical insurance, would Canadians be happy or upset? If Canada went to the USA's system where you pay deductible plus out of pocket premiums from healthcare providers like Aetna, BlueCross/Blueshield, and have private health care corporations manage care assets. And you pay about $3,500 for an MRI scan. Or would you prefer the current system that's been implemented in Canada for 45+ years? Or some other hybrid of the 2?
Can you get private medical insurance in countries with single payer systems? As the US moves toward what I think will be government run healthcare, I wonder if people will be able to purchase their own insurance for "better/faster" care? Does such a thing even exist in countries with nationalized care? Right now President Obama says you'll be able to keep your insurance if you like it, but if companies know that you can get insurance through the government, most will drop benefits. Others will be forced out of business as they won't be able to compete with "free."
It is true that if I pay for private medical insurance in the USA I am not going to be seen by a physician? Maybe a physician assistant or nurse practitioner? And I don't have anything against them, is just that if people are paying expensive medical insurances, who is making money? And they are not illegals............ And the hospitals hire them too, so they can save $$$ instead of hiring doctors. but you still paying a very expensive medical insurance. Do you think they should decrease the price too if you are not seeing by a real doctor?
If I have private medical insurance should I still register with a GP at my arrival in theUK for NHS purposes? How do you go about registereing with a General Practitioner? I have private medical insurance that is accepted by 2 GP's in the British city where I will be living; however, the stipulation is I have to pay all expenses up front first, and the health insurance company in the USA will later reimburse me. Can I sign up for free NHS coverage with a doctor who takes private medical insurance, or do these type of physicians usually not take part in the free NHS plan? I'm told more and more doctors in the UK are shying away from taking on new NHS patients these days. Is this true? Is it that difficult these days to register with a GP on the free NHS programme? Thank-you!
Why are some people so adamant that having ONLY private medical insurance is best? What do you think? This is a quote from the following article: "In addition, under the settlement, Health Net agreed to halt employee bonuses that were based in part on how many rescissions they performed." And here's the article, with other reputable links inside: http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/138914.php "Anthem Blue Cross Announces Settlements With California Insurance Department Over Rescinded Health Insurance Policies; Health Net Announces Settlement"
Which costs more...USA taxes plus the cost to pay for private medical insurance or Canada's taxes? I was debating with my friends on FB on whether health care should be considered a right or a privilege. One of my friends responded using Canada's high taxes as a reason to not have universal health care. But, I thought about it...taxes in the US are high when you consider your federal income taxes, social security taxes, local taxes, and other taxes. Plus, you would also need to add-in the amount that private health insurance costs (including the amount taken from your check and the amount that an employer would also pay).
When applying for private insurance does telling wife of spouse's medical hx without his consent violate law? I was applying for private medical insurance and got the 2000 questions by the insurance company. All of this was on the phone. No written consents. My husband never even talked to them. They pulled up his medical history somehow on the Web and gave me all the details asking if I was aware of why he recieved certain treatments. One treatment involved shingles and he was prescribed Valtrex. This same drug also treats genital herpes. I knew why he was prescribed this medication, but if I had not, and if it was for genital herpes, it would have been quite a shock for me considering this prescription was 5 years after we were married. My question is are they violating HIPAA and do I need to file a complaint? It makes me very uncomfortable to work with this company after this. My husband actually did not know I was applying for new coverage. I currently cover our family and was getting quotes from other companies. He never signed anything, never talked to anyone, nothing. The thing that bothers me is if this was reversed and my husband was the insurance prividor in our family and he decided to shop around. I have not had an abortion, but what if I had even before we were married or after and had not told him, but they disclosed this to him without my consent. Same thing, but backwards. Makes you think about who has our medical records and what they can do with them and how little control you have over them.
Would you recommend Norwich Union private Health / Medical insurance? Please can anyone give me their opinions on this health insurance provider... I am not sure whether to change from BUPA to Norwich Union. The covers seem to offer pretty much the same things though Norwich Union is £45 cheaper per month. I just wondered if anyone had any good or bad stories or personal experiences they'd like to share about either company?
private medical insurance? Do you know any private medical insurance which will cover you whilst you are couple of weeks pregnant?
A question for anyone who has private medical/health insurance UK? I've recently got it and I'm a bit confused by a couple of things. They say you have to write to them for them to agree to any procedureds before they take place but they also cover things like heammorhage after pregnancy. What do you do in that kind of case because obviously you aren't going to have time to write to them! What do you do if it is something urgent? Also if you are in an NHS hopital, how do you then get transferred to a private hospital?
Private medical insurance for existing condition? Hi every one . I need your help. My auntie has womens problems and she is on a NHS waiting list for hysterectomy (i think she won't tell me exactly) but I am afraid it will take a long time. I wanted to get her private medical insurance but I guess I didn't think quick enough, now I don't know where to get it because she has a pre existing condition. I want to buy her medical insurance which will cover her afterwards but also get her in hospital for treatment asap. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Is it legal for hospitals to bill or ask for a medical insurance for a work related injury? For some reason I thought if you had a work related injury, hospitals had to bill the workers comp and it was illegal for them to bill any private medical insurance. I know auto insurance has a cap, like $100,000 personal injury and once that runs out the medical insurance starts being billed but for some reason I thought it was different with work comp claims. Was I wrong?
Where can I get travel insurance without medical cover? I'm going to work abroad on a 6 month contract and want to cover my possessions, passport etc whilst in transit (will be making a few flights in this 6 months). However, as part of my contract I am getting private medical insurance, so I don't want to be paying for medical cover on the travel insurance. Does anyone know of a company who might do this? Or do I need to look at a different kind of policy, ie not travel insurance? Thanks very much Thanks guys, should have said I'm in the UK. Have rung a couple of agencies already and they say they can't do it without the medical cover and didn't know anyone who would.
Will the Gov't compete with Private Insurance Companies? The Gov't says we can keep our private medical insurance when National Health Insurance is Created. However, when the gov't starts offering Health insurance cheaper than the private Health Insurance companies can offer it will the private insurance companies be able to compete with the Gov't?
Anyone invested in medical insurance stocks? A couple of the largest private medical insurance companies in my country are about to go public for the first time. Anyone else seen this sort of company on the stockmarket before? Are they considered like pharmaceuticals, mines or more stable like property, banks?
To those who have private medical insurance: do you agree with Nancy Pelosi that insurers are "villains"? From her July 30 press conference: "The public option—that's where the insurance companies are making their attacks—it's almost immoral what they are doing, " said Pelosi, addressing reporters outside of her office a few minutes ago. "Of course, they've been immoral all along," she added. "They are the villains in this, they have been part of the problem in a major way. They are doing everything in their power to stop a public option from happening and the public has to know.. They have had a good thing going for a long time at the expense of the American people and the health of our country." Is this why she is championing a health care system that will eventually eliminate the private option?
Are there private medical insurance companies who cover pre-exisiting conditions? I'm asking on behalf of someone I know who needs extensive dental treatment. His current oral health is due to neglect and he's been quoted in the region of about £10k to have it done privately. He is temporarily employed on a permanent basis and has a low income. I don't believe there's a cheap solution except perhaps dentures but would appreciate any suggestions. Can anyone suggest any options to look into?
Private Doctors and Medical Insurance? Hi, I am fed up with going to a GP and waiting for results and referrals. I am considering going Private but have no idea how to go about this. Please could anyone tell me if having private medical insurance would cover going to see a GP and referrals. Thank You for taking the time in answering my question.
Has the Republicratic party's plan to force Americans to buy private medical insurance finally made it? And are the insurance companies literally salivating at the 30,000,000+ new customers they will be defrauding in cahoots with the government? Eric S: I thought it was pretty straight forward, but I'll dumb it down. My inference was that both parties (Republicans and Democrats) have been working together to pass legislation to force Americans into buying privatized insurance from failed companies like AIG to prop them up again. I find this tragically comical as there are two massively ignorant corners of public opinion who believe they are working against each other only to be working towards the same thing which is supporting the same failed polices that started the whole debate in the first place. Evil genius on the governments behalf. You really have to appreciate the mastery the US government has at manipulating the public.
Can I use a medical coupon and my private insurance through my parent...? So i use my coupon to get prescriptions and I use my health insurance to go to my counselor and doctors etc. So I got prescribed a anti- depressant from my doctor and the coupon wont cover it so they have to contact the doctor to see if I need it. I dont want to tell my parents Im using a medical coupon. Would they know about the pharmcist asking the doctor if they should cover it?
I have been denied private medical insurance in CA; all I want is cheap EMERGENCY coverage; is it availible? Blue Cross, Kaiser, they've all said no. I'm an exceptionally fit 29 year old male, but I had a condition in high school that could, theoretically, require surgery again someday. I'm willing to sign ANYTHING regarding what they won't cover, just as long as they cover emergency injuries. The only plan I've found is the Major Risk subsidized plan that would cost me over 300 a month, way over my budget. Are there any simple emergency-only plans left in CA?
Denial of application for personal medical insurance? I developed gestational diabetes while pregnant with my second child. Postpartum, my OB/GYN never mentioned my GD and never ordered postpartum blood tests to check to see if the diabetes was gone. My husband went into business for himself recently and we no longer have group medical coverage and applied for private medical insurance. I have been denied coverage because there was no postpartum follow up of my diabetes. Is there anything I can do legally about this? I am currently not covered by an insurance, so the cost of a lab draw diabetes test would be too much for us to pay. I was wondering if something could be brought up against the Dr, even just a complaint, not the insurance company.
What is your response to this liberal that claims private medical insurance is "greedy"? I bet she isn't even married to a doctor, but let's play devil's advocate and pretend she is. How would you respond to that? Here is what she said. She "claimed" to be the wife of a doctor but even IF that is true, this doesn't mean she knows what she is talking about: "We already have socialized medicine in Medicare. Mr. Kennedy, Mr. McCain, and every member in Congress has government health care as does everyone in the military!!!!! Hello???????? I'll take the health care Kennedy gets any day. In Barbaric societies, it is everyone for himself. No law, nothing... it's you against the rest of them. And the heck with anyone else. Try living in one of those places. For profit health care providers are just that---for profit. You have no idea how much of your dollar goes into my husband's pocket for lunches from drug reps, kickbacks for him writing scripts on brand new meds... like Vioxx and Zelnorm at the time, Welbutrin too. Vioxx was $5/tab to the patient, 3 per day. $450/mo. Same for Welbutrin. And dinners that those drug companies bought for us and two companions as well, came from your premium, and that premium as well, went to share holders in those companies. I'd tell you more...write if you wish. Dad and husband both mds." What is your rebuttal to that? I think she doesn't know what she is talking about.
Are people brainwashed by medical insurance corporations? Think really hard about what I'm about to say. I believe that the corporate world has so influenced our way of life that when the government wants to ALLOW people to have the choice of private or public medical insurance people are so afraid of change they will do anything to prevent it. Corporate insurance companies are so powerfull in creating fear of "the public option" people are so closed minded to accept it. What is so wrong with having a CHOICE of either public or private health insurance? They DO NOT want the competition, they are monopolies.
If you have to switch to a private medical insurance plan, and you have a chronic illness, is it a pre-exist? I just found out I am being laid off in Oct. I have IC (interstial cystisis) which is a chronic painful bladder disorder. Right now i am not on any meds for it, but after exhausting natural options, I was planning on returning to the care of a urologist. My question is, if I apply for a private ins plan will it be considered a pre-existing condition? Do you just never get covered for it again?? I am planning on have no gap in between insurance. I feel terrinble because one of the girls I work with has cervical cancer in the middle of chemo! I am also worried about her.:( i live in ohio and cobra will only cover for 2 weeks and its $375!!!!
What medical assistance is available to those in USA who are not covered by medical insurance? I undrestand that 50% of the people in USA are not covered by medical insurance. In that case how do they get medical assistance in case of sickness? Is there any system under which private medical practicrers are available to whom one can go for treatment ? If yes then what is the normal fees they charge for examining a patient and writing a prescription? Can somone tell me please?
Do I have to show medical records to get private health insurance? I don't want anyone to see my record because when I was 17 (26 now) som1 at a party pass around a joint with coke in it... and I got sick and had to go to the hospital. oh ya and I had to get my stomach pumped more then one time to. What can I say I was a dumb Irish kid!!
Do billing codes give insurance companies your private medical information? I got a letter from a company that said as part of my medical benefits at work they are having a registered nurse call me to discuss the billing code diagnosis that "Suggest that I may have certain conditions" and they want to tell me how my treatment should go and need to update my records because they dont have access to the actual records. How are my medical records being kept private if the insurance company is getting diagnosis codes that allow them to discern what conditions I might have. Is this a violation of HIPPA laws? Their guesses are wrong but should I tell them that?
Facts only please: where is the money coming from to pay for everyone's medical insurance? Would it be possible for the government to only pay for preventative treatments from Medical Providers of choice, and not within a specific limited choice of medical providers; or, would it be feasible for the Government to pay for only the services that private insurance would not cover. With a Government controlled medical insurance systems; would this put medical insurance companies out of business? How would this proposition effect the economy long term; and if this can be implemented while maintaining Patient Rights, and individual decision making--where is the money coming from? and how much will this cost taxpayers per person, per year? Where are the figures?
Why does Obama want to force prisoners to pay for their medical needs with private insurance? Oh don't worry Liberals...Obama would never do that to murderers, rapists and child molesters! Our Soldiers on the other hand aren't so lucky...if they go off to war and defend freedom they better not get wounded because good ol' Obama is going to stick them with the bill in order to save money to give welfare to people like the Octomom Nadya Suleman! http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/03/10/veterans.health.insurance/index.html WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki confirmed Tuesday that the Obama administration is considering a controversial plan to make veterans pay for treatment of service-related injuries with private insurance. Robert F: Oh I see so screw the wounded SOLDIERS we need to worry about worthless lazy welfare trash because they deserve it more? Jack: Remember Hitler never gave a speech about how he would murder millions of Jews, Catholics, Gypsies...etc. He just did it! Of course Obama is going to send the First #$%^@ out to say how much they care...remember in Liberal land caring is more important than doing! Welfare and the war on poverty is a great example, it doesn't matter that welfare has actually decreased the productiveness of poor people and caused a generational poverty along with rampant drug use and hopelessness...all that matters is they care and if you are a Conservative and point out the results of their actions you are "Heartless". So to be: Two questions: 1. Before Clinton did you have to pay anything for the medical care that you were promised would be FREE while you were still on active duty? 2. Wasn't Champus FREE? There is no excuse ever to make a wounded Soldier, Sailor, Airman or Marine pay even a penny for anything in relation to a wound sustained defending this country...even to seek a single PENNY is IMMORAL!!!
What medical insurance can I get for my daughter (two month old, US citizen) in Canada? My daughter is two month old. She will move with me to Vancouver next month. I have Canadian permanent residence. Therefore I am able to get goverment medicare. However she has US citizenship and does not have Canadian permanent residence (I will apply for her after we get there. But it might take one year). What medical insurance can I get for her before she gets her Canadian permanent residence? I spent several days on google to search for private medical insurance in Canada. But the only insurance I can find are emergent medical insurance for traveler. She is only two month old and I need those full medical insurance coverage allowing me to bring her for regular pediatric doctor visiting. Can anyone help me? I will really appreciate.
I was turned down for medical insurance- it's a private HMO- can they turn people down for any reason? I have been with Kaiser insurance for more than fifteen years now. I was insured through my mother's employer. Being that I am 31 years old, I understand that they normally cut off adult children being covered at the age of 18 (unless the child is in college). However, I had been covered by Kaiser Permanente up until around November of 2005. I had had coverage since I was around the age of 15. But now, they have cancelled my coverage. Before, when asked why, they didn't provide a clear answer as to why they revoked my coverage. But now, they are saying that it is due to my obesity and high blood pressure. I have basically stayed the same weight all these years. Since the age of 15, I have probably gained about 30 or 40 lbs. Can they legally do this to me? I am very angry that they refuse to allow me to have health insurance now, on the premise that I am "obese" and I have HBP. I am five foot ten, and weigh around 270. It's not like I weigh 800 lbs.- sheesh! What can I do? Can I sue this insurance company for discrimination? Or, are they allowed to do whatever they please? Are they permitted to discriminate against people for any reason they want to? Where is the fairness in that? I am also disabled, due to OCD (obsessive/compulsive disorder), and I am also a full time student, and I am a dependant under my Mom. Shouldn't Kaiser allow me to have insurance coverage? I mean, I need the insurance now all the more, since I have hypertension. I desperately need my blood pressure medicine, and I need to see a doctor. It makes me very angry that this company has done this to me, when we have been loyal customers for so many years! We have paid very high premiums for our healthcare. You would think that this company would treat their patients with more concern and compassion.
How does an organization get exclusions removed from a medical insurance policy? Let me explain my situation: I'm a transsexual woman who works at a private school. Our current health insurance policy explicitly excludes trans-related procedures and treatment. I've spoken to my school's benefits department and they've agreed to pay to have the exclusions removed. However, Highmark Blue Shield supposedly claims that it isn't possible to add or remove conditions like that from a standard plan. Does anybody have any idea how medical insurance policies for larger organizations tend to work in this regard?
is a medical file private and does an insurance company need to see it in order to pay out? *UK law*? Hey to cut a long story short, the insurance company don't want to pay out the mortgage insurance because they said there are indiscrepancies in my fathers medical file which conflicts with the contract. Now they told us this in March but after many letters from my solicitor still refuse to explain what these indiscrepancies are. I came across a website which said it is illegal for the insurance company to use a medical file as its private, even if you signed to say that they can. is that true? UK citizen, so different laws may apply here than to the USA/. http://www.thaimed.us/tips-claim-health-insurance/2008/02/20/
How do I bill private insurance companies? I want to start a medical mail order business, do I need to contact each private insurance companies individually and get approval to bill them for products or can I just go through a billing service and bill them right from the start.
Girlfriend has epilepsy, her medical insurance is expiring..? Hello, I have been with my girlfriend for about a year now. She has epilespy, which means if she doesn't take her medication she gets seizures. Up to this point, her medical insurance had been covered through her mom's plan, but she is too old now and it will be expiring on her birthday next month. She currently works two jobs, but none of them have insurance for her either. She is very worried that she will not be able to afford the medication once her insurance coverage runs out, (It is about $1500 for 3 months supply of this medicine) I am worried too, as she lives paycheck to paycheck. Private insurance is almost as bad (about $300-400 a month). Are there any government funded programs that will help someone in her position? She is able to work but the medicine/insurance is just way out of her price range. Your help would be appreciated! also, the medication is called lamictal. She has to take 400mg of it a day.
What is the cheapest way to get individual medical insurance? I need to find insurance for a young adult who has had medical issues, but does not have coverage in her current job. Blue Cross wants $18,000 a year. There has got to be something out there that is designed to cover private individuals that a person can afford: I know it won't be cheap, but there should be something do-able.
I am living in Texas.I am pregnant and don´t have private insurance or money to pay private care. What can I do I want to know what should I do in my conditions. I just have 1.5 months of pregnancy but I need to start taking medical care and assistance. I don´t have a private insurance and I don´t have the money to pay private doctors and hospitals. What is Private Health Insurance? My work provides me with insurance that covers medical and some RX. Is this considered Private insurance? Or is Private insurance when you go and purchase the insurance on your own?
Medicare Part B & Private Health Insurance? My mom is 67 and still works. She has a group health policy through her job. She declined Part B since she is an active employee with group coverage. She works for a small employer, with under 20 employees, so Medicare is primary. The problem is that her group health plan is denying ALL of her claims incurred outside of the hospital, including doctor's visits, telling her that she should have enrolled for Part B. She was advised by SSA to not take Part B since she was still working and has major medical insurance for charges outside of the hospital. But, now, her private insurance is not covering her claims. She feels deceived by her insurance company. I have always heard that it was best to decline Part B when you are actively working and have group health insurance. Can someone help?
