Do you think that a major medical insurance policy? Do you think that a major medical insurance policy will help with the medical needs of my family?, and Does this provide equipment needed for my two daughters if the one at home needs repair or replaced? Can I buy only major medical insurance for my horse? I want to purchase an insurance policy for my 8 yr old American Warmblood gelding. I only want major medical/surgical and loss of use, not mortality insurance. Does any one know any good policies in the USA? My gelding is used for low level hunters and is valued b/t 15 and 20k. Any insurance company recommendations would help as I am lost on this one. Also, what are your experiences with insurance companies? are there any to avoid, and how would I be sure one is reputable. Thanks!!
What is a Major Medical Deductible on Health insurance? I currently am receiving quotes for medical insurance and I have this one policy quote that does not list a deductible, but it does list this Major Medical Deductible for $3500.00 & total out of pocket $6000.00? What does this mean? Is this for Emergency care only?
Question about carrying two Major Medical Insurance policies on 1 individual? My wife and I are having a kid and we both have HMOs from our individual employers. We both have high deductibles and ultimately similar coverage. A friend (who isn't in the insurance business) recommended we double insure our new born son when he arrives just to insure he is covered should he have health issues. Is this legal and does it make sense to do it?
Looking for information on Major Medical Insurance? I am going to be self employed in the near future and want to start shopping for Major Medical. I literally know nothing about it. What should I be looking for? What kinds of prices should I expect? Any feedback from anyone who has purchased their own Major Medical Policy? Thanks in advance! I am 33, a non smoker, no major medical conditions etc, no medications, not having anymore children.
What happened to "major medical" insurance coverage? When I was a cub, my parents had "major medical" insurance coverage. They paid for routine medical expenses out of pocket. Only major medical expenses were paid by insurance. IMO, the less people pay in out-of-pocket costs, the more people will use and abuse the insurance coverage -- and drive up the cost.
Is this major medical insurance? ? Hey I have to have major medical insurance for the program I am going into in college and found a plan for people under 19, I am 18 and married, that offers health insurance. It is the blue link from blue cross blue shield of alabama and I need to know if what it covers is considered to be major medical insurance. It says it is hospital, medical, and prescription drug coverage. Would this be considered to be major medical insurance? Is this what they mean when they tell me I need major medical insurance? This is kind of confusing and I need to get it figured out so I can start my nursing program in January. Thanks for any help you give me!

Need advice on good medical insurance company? Wanting to purchase medical insurance for a family member. Looking for a very good company who could provide major medical insurance with at least a $2,500.00 deductible. Just mainly looking for some basic coverage. Thank you for whatever advice you can give me.
Is there any major medical insurance for pre-exsiting conditions??? I take care of my 50 year old mother, who is on COBRA, which went up to 700.00 monthly. We cannot afford this, but she needs medical insurance due to her pace maker. We've tried medi-cal, SSI, ect. Her ex-husband will not help her. He actually left her because she is sick, with the woman he was cheating on her with. Then he married her a year later. I am out of options and she needs help. Someone, anyone, everyone....please help. If she doesn't get medical care for her conditions and medicines for her heart, she eventually will die.
What will a major medical issue do to my insurance premiums? My doctor and I have been discussing a medication for a chronic illness that I have that will cost $20,000 a year. I have an individual insurance plan because the place I work is small and doesn't have a group plan. What will this do to my premiums? I mean will my monthly insurance rates go up substantially?
Do medical insurance rates go up after a major illness? I'm self employed and have been paying nearly $700/mo. for years with almost no claims(my family has been really healthy)until now. Since diagnosed with colon cancer about 6 weeks ago my medical bills have totaled almost $50,000. Glad to have insurance now. My insurance is with a major realible company, the largest in my state in fact.
Major Medical Only? -- Health Insurance Suggestions? I'm a recent college graduate that has part-time work during the winter. I took over my health insurance when I graduated, but it's costing me a bit over $350 a month. This is more than my rent, utilities, and food combined! Currently I have a $1000 deductible and all that general stuff that it provides. I do need some form of insurance as I train horses, which carries a risk. I am looking to switch to major medical only. Does anyone have any suggestions (or experience/what you use/ect).

What insurance company will give me a good direct rate on health coverage? Please help!? I love my job, but unfortunately, no health benefits are offered. (I work for an independent contractor as an admin). I know that major medical insurance is important, but I'm afraid that I'll end up paying way too much, etc. I'm single, no kids, and in my early 20's. How can I know I'm getting a good deal, and what company should I look into? Thank you for your help!
How can I get medical care on an injury? I have injured my arm. My doctor thinks I tore cartridge in my shoulder. The MRI test is over $2300.00. I do not have major medical insurance. I am low income. Will I qualify for medicaid? I am still working but the pain is real bad. I have limited use of this arm and could not get hired if I leave my job. I don't know how long I can keep it up.
What type of horse insurance should I get? that will pay for medical bills: Such as injury, colic, regular vet visits? These are the reason why I haven't bought a horse yet. I just don't want a huge vet bill and not be able to pay for it. How do you horse owners handle the vet bills. In case of an emergency. Would insurance be a good idea. What does the Equine Mortality/Major Medical Insurance cover? How much does it usually cost.
will my humana one ppo major medical pay for wisdom tooth excision? I have humana one ppo major medical insurance, and I know all 4 of my wisdom teeth are impacted. They have never bothered me, until now. I have one that is really beginning to hurt. In my policy, under dental benefits its says "excision of partially or completely unerupted impacted teeth." I also found an oral surgeon in their network provider list (specialist, of course!) I will have dental insurance in one month that has no waiting periods for pre-existing conditions but I don't know if I can wait that long! Someone please help! I emailed Humana but haven't gotten a response yet. Last time it took a few days...not sure what to do.
Are medical procedures such as heart attack, cancer, or something major very unaffordable even with insurance? I have great medical insurance and dental, through Aetna. The only downfall is that they ONLY cover 50% of psychiatric/psychology. Which is a shame, since I truly believe that this country can really use a better mental health care system. I've unfortunately been to the ER countless of times, due to being sick and asthma, but I'm working at better maintaining my health. The total expenses weren't too high, they were anywhere from $400 to $4000 ish, for one visit, the $4 grand one including full xrays, CT scan, ekg, etc, and with insurance they all came down to about $50 to $200 ish, after going through insurance, so it's not unreasonable, and they DO have payment plans. However, what if something major happened. Surgery, heart attack, cancer. Wouldn't that catapult the total costs into the $100,000 range? And even if I have insusrance then, how much would they cover? This really scares me. Should I be saving alot just in case? How do we prepare for this? Also do I need separate insurance to cover an extended stay in a hospital just in case, or is what I have now all you need? I'm confused, and scared, and what to take preventative measures before something awful happens/if something were to happen. to the first replyer: I understand that, but if you had a major heart attack or ongoing treatment, hospital stays for a long time, cancer, I doubt you'd just pay your $50 copay and that's the end of it.
I need help finding insurance for a major medical procedure. Texas, low income and don't qualify for medicaid? I'm uninsured, and due to the psychiatric disability i need the procedure for it is difficult for me to hold onto a job. I have found one i am managing to keep but its part time, min wage with no guaranteed hours and they won't let me work for their competitor. The procedure I want done is electroshock, I've tried dozens of meds over the last 4 years and none help. But it can cost 800-2000 per treatment and usually takes 4-8 treatments to kick in. Public health services only push meds. I think my only option is to find some private insurance and find some way to pay the premium. This is so confusing!! How do I choose one? Last time, i had BCBS but they had a one year waiting period for mental health costs and i cannot wait that long. And they didn't even pay for one hospital stay i had because "We have reason to believe this was self inflicted and we wil not cover" And i didn't even hurt myself, i just admitted because i was having an emergency. Or even... are there people, like counselors or agents that could help me find the right company or even public aid and set this up?
Does Mental Health Insurance "Cap" or have a limit per year? Can mental health turn over into Major medical? I know a woman who is chronically in the psychiatric hospital for suicidality. For those mental health aware---she is more than likely a very low -functioning borderline. Within the last 12 months, she has spent about 17 weeks total on a locked Inpatient unit. Working in mental health myself (though not in insurance) I know the cash-value (so to speak) of an inpatient stay is about $1000 per day. Obviously, I am sure the contracted rate is much less... anyway. After being released one week ago, she is voluntarily checking in again this evening. I am sort of shocked she has enough insurance coverage to continuously be re-admitted inpatient. Do the number of days allowed "start over" with each new admission? Either that, or I would have to think that Major Medical kicks in. I am very surprised the insurance continues to cover her, when they are in essence "losing so much money" on this patient---with very little results. For my own understanding, I would like some insight into this.
I am now paying $200 for major medical with 6K deductable, how can't people afford insurance? and this major medical covers some office visits if I need them too and 100% medical on all other major incidents ..Sure the 6K deductable is high but it isn't outragous if something severly went wrong with my health...SO, why can't people who don't have health insurance afford this ? Most these people who can't afford it smoke 2 packs a day and have 100 dollar cell phone bill and cable and what have you....THEY CHOOSE TO LET GOVERNMENT PAY FOR IT.....THAT IS BS! 6K bankrupting most people is a joke right? American Republic Insurance. My Dad had same insurance and it covered over 1 million dollars so far in his claims over the years of hospital. NO NO NO!! I PAY 200 a month..that is total bill...I am self employed! im 45 yrs old...come again...you LIBS Are nuts!
Question about which insurance should be billed? My husband had a surgical procedure to remove a malignant tumor on the floor of his mouth. During this procedure his oral surgeon worked with the ENT surgeon and removed all his teeth as a precaution and part of his medical treatment. We learned that his dental insurance, rather than major medical, was billed for this service, maxing out the dental benefits for that year, and leaving us with a rather large bill from the oral surgeon. My question is should the oral surgeon have submitted this to the major medical insurance, as it was a medically necessary procedure that occurred during a surgery? The oral surgeon actually billed for each tooth removed as if it were a separate office call for each extraction, close to $150 per tooth. Another question, it has been over a year since this operation and billing, can I still ask the oral surgeon to request payment from the major medical insurance? Or am I stuck since I waited so long to take action on it? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

how does double medical insurance coverage work? my wife is starting a new job and we are thinking of using the medical insurance at her new employer as well as keeping her covered under the existing plan. She doesn't have any major health issues, but does have a fair amount of routine visits that seem to add up over each year. WIll the additional insurance cover the balance 100%?
Supplemental health insurance benefit taxable? I have Conseco Supplemental Health Insurance, like cancer insurance, heart/stroke insurance and accidental injury insurance. Are the benefits (money) paid directly to me from this treated as income? My medical expenses for this year will be way above 7.5% of gross income after benefits are paid by my major medical insurance (Blue Shield). So I would need to do a deduction of my income. However, I heard supplemental insurance benefits are like Life Insurance payment which are not treated as taxable income, so there is no need to declare the benefit as income. Of course, at the same time, I could not declare the premium paid by me to purchase the supplemental health insurance as an expense either. Please help.
How can I get a major medical insurance if I have high blood pressure? I recently turned 25 and I was dropped from my father's coverage at his job. However, the last time I went and saw a doctor about 6 months ago I had elevated blood pressure. So when I tried to get individual medical insurance I was turned down for elevated blood pressure. I am not against taking medication for this condition, and I was prescribed a medication when I last saw the doctor. However, I had some serious side-effects that I could not live with, but when I communicated this with my doctor he was not receptive in the least. I would like to get a second opinion on this matter, but at the moment I am not covered. Does anyone know of a major medical health insurance company that is more likely to accept someone as young as me with high blood pressure?
getting major medical with pre-existing conditions? other than getting on a group plan has anyone had any luck finding major medical insurance for an individual? i have had back surgery, shoulder surgery, hernia and a heart transplant. i know about COBRA and state health insuranc pools. any help would be appreciated.

I need medical insurance for one month...? I'm currently on COBRA - but found a job and the insurance will kick in on 4/1/09. I am paying 710.00 a month for COBRA - and want to save as much as I can during the month of March - but don't want to be totally without insurance. I have no major medical problems - and am up to date on all of my preventive care visits. I pretty much just want something that would cover me if I had an accident and had to go to the hospital. I don't want to go broke from medical bills - but I don't need any doctor care or perscriptions. What type of insurance and what company offers the minimal I need for one month? Of course, I'd prefer a well known, reputable company.
In America, what happens if you need urgent medical treatment and don't have insurance? If you don't have medical insurance and you are—for example— involved in a serious car accident and require extensive, major surgery, what happens? Surely, a Doctor under Hippocratic Oath cannot refuse treatment. Yet, what if the individual clearly has no money or insurance and the treatment costs many thousands of dollars to save his or her life. I'm just curious (I don't live in America obviously). Thanks.
Medical insurance employer requirements. Is it the responsibility of the employer to provide waiver? I began working for my current employer 14 months ago. After four months I approached the human resource director and questioned him on the medical insurance I was told I would receive upon hire. At that time I had received no enrollment forms or waivers. I was told that I was outside my ninety days and that i would have to wait for open enrollment, consequently leaving me uninsured. In August of this year I had a major heart attack resulting in a $30,000 bill. Was my employer negligent according to the law, in not delivering the appropriate enrollment information in a timely manor?

Leasing a horse: Insurance/ medical and general questions!? I have decided to lease a horse to gain more experience as I am hoping to buy a horse next year. I think I have found a great horse to lease and was hoping for some advice. She is a 5 year old TB mare. She will be boarded at a full facility barn of the owners choosing and be ridden by her owner once a week. 1) What does medical insurance cover. I can't afford to pay for a vet if the horse cuts it leg for example while it is in my care (I believe call outs are normally around $500, so one call out and my contingency is gone!) Is there cover that helps with vets fee's for smaller injuries? (Most of the policies I have found online seem to be Major medical, like colic.) Can anyone suggest any good types of cover and companies (we are in California) 2) In some of the contracts I have seen, I would be responsible for her medical care - she is worth about $2000. If she gets sick or injured and the cost of care is much more than that, would I be liable if that was in the contract? I mean, I would hate anything to happen, but if the bill came to $10000, it would bankrupt us! 3) I am getting a really good deal on this lease and the owner is really nice. I really want to make sure this is a positive experience for us both - do you have any tips? If you were to lease out your horse, what would make a great lessee? Thank you! FYI. I am saving for my own horse now, and I only have a $2000 more to go, so I can afford tack, equipment, etc etc. This contingency is for the lease, not my horse savings. I don't want to be in a situation where I have to use my horse fund on a leased horse! FYI. Good medical insurance for mental illness in BC? I have been suffering from some sort of mental illness for long time without knowing what it is exactly. I've attended couple of free group sessions and psychiatrists there told me they think I'm at least suffering from major depression. Question is...is there any good medical insurance plan or care for mental illness in BC? I mean, how do you people get treated? Care card doesn't cover this or the medical plan I have from my husband's work doesn't cover this either. I know I need help but how?
what type of insurance (car) would cover a pedestrian being hit by my car....? I want to know, strictly through my car insurance if i am covered in any way if i hit a pedestrian, and i want to know, if a passenger in the driver who is at faults car is hurt, what insurance covers the passenger? (so, some guy hits my car, he is at fault, and his friend is in his backseat, his friend is injured. Does his bodily injury liability cover this, or does his friends own major medical insurance cover this)
Would dividing insurance up help? Why not have a Perscription insurance, a minor medical insurance, and a major medical insurance. It would add jobs, and force competion amongst the insurance companies. Your thoughts? Tort reform would help.
How much of my horse's lease fee should I apply to a purchase option? I am leasing my horse (off-farm) under a one-year agreement. The Lessee has asked if we can negotiate a percentage of the lease to be applied toward purchase if they decide to but the horse at some point. The lessee is paying all fees/board. The only thing I maintain is mortality & major medical insurance. I Should specify -- we are still finalizing the agreement. The horse hasn't gone out yet. So the agreed upon percentage will be in the lease. I Should specify -- we are still finalizing the agreement. The horse hasn't gone out yet. So the agreed upon percentage will be in the lease.
What do I do since I don't have medical insurance? I have an abnormal growth in my throat that has caused major uncomfortably, and sever coughing and fever... I don't have medical insurance... and I know that the ER will ONLY "stabilize" without insurance... what do I do? Part of me really doesn't want to know what it is because there is nothing I can do about it... Kinda scared, any information would be greatly appreciated! I am 28years old and have been smoking a pack a day since I was 14years old... and just recently quit smoking!
Received today medical bill from heart attack in 2006, can they do this? This doctor was one of the consulting in surgery while trying to unblock main artery. Hospital could not supply me with all involved in the two surgeries. We refinanced our paid off home in Dec 2007 to cover what the major medical did not. Had this guy submit a bill in a timely manner to the major medical insurance company he probably would of been paid for these two bills we are just now receiving. We were told by a medical professional that if it had not been billed to us within a year of the incident they would not be able to collect it. I don't want anything going again our credit but financially we are tapped out and the major medical insurance is tapped out for another year before available for anything pertaining to the heart attack. We pay cash for all the testing necessary and all medication monthly at this time.
Experienced in medical insurance? If there is any1 out there who has either worked 4 or with an insurance co, could U possibly tell me how long I should wait after start of insurance 2 present a medical problem that will require major surgery (hernia repair), so that the insurance will cover as much as possible? If it is any help, its my spouse (who is covered) needing the attention, and we have Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Options PPO through my place of work. Thank you.

I recently bought health insurance from Reserve National of Oklahoma and I foud out because I paid my premiums by the year my agent made big bucks. I also found out they are not major medical insurance. I want an agent that will look out for me and show me all the different options. Is there an Emercency Health Care Insurance Plan? I am 25 and do not have health insurance, nor can I afford it. I would however, like to get a insurance for just emergency care. Recently I found a company that offered a $700 deductible for $60 a month for emergency health and dental care but the site was down for repair at the time and I have since lost it. I remember searching under "emergency health insurance" and "major medical insurance". Is there a proper name for what I am looking for and does it exist? I could care less about doctor visits right now, I am healthy and if need be can pay out of pocket for a doctors visit. I am just worried about the big stuff that could sink me in debt for a long time. It appears that the temporary insurance seems to be one solution, but I would have to keep getting temporary insurance from different providers. I have shopped around and all the sites seem like scams, all they want is your e-mail address so they can send you spam, and I am the only person among family and friends that does not have a job that provides health care so I cannot ask them. Thank you
Looking for Maternity Insurance? We're wanting to get preggers in the near future. We're trying to look at our financial options for insurance. Currently we don't have major medical insurance (I don't need any comments on this, it's not what I'm asking about). I'm hoping to get a type of maternity insurance that will cover a couple thousand dollars. We're also planning on home birthing (again, this isn't my question, so I'm not interested in opinions on this matter). Does anyone know any carriers that I could get some maternity insurance from for the states of Utah and/or New Mexico?
Medicare Part B & Private Health Insurance? My mom is 67 and still works. She has a group health policy through her job. She declined Part B since she is an active employee with group coverage. She works for a small employer, with under 20 employees, so Medicare is primary. The problem is that her group health plan is denying ALL of her claims incurred outside of the hospital, including doctor's visits, telling her that she should have enrolled for Part B. She was advised by SSA to not take Part B since she was still working and has major medical insurance for charges outside of the hospital. But, now, her private insurance is not covering her claims. She feels deceived by her insurance company. I have always heard that it was best to decline Part B when you are actively working and have group health insurance. Can someone help?

Insurance when traveling (not necessarily travel insurance)? I will be out of the country for five months working on my travel website http://www.bombasticlife.com where I do trave review of hotels, restaurants, people I meet along they way and different gadgets that I use while traveling and need to have medical insurance incase something happens. I'm not looking for travel insurance that will cover me incase my trip is canceled but for medical coverage incase I get sick or have an accident, something like a major medical plan. Any ideas or suggestions?
Medical insurance ? If your insurance won't cover a major surgury and a relatives will can they give approval to use their insurance for you?
Do I have to use my Primary Medical Insurance if my Secondary is better insurance? I have dual coverage medical insurance. I have had my secondary insurance for years before I got a job and now have my own insurance. Well my new insurance sucks, and I would rather not even claim anything with them and would rather have my now secondary insurance billed. Basically I want to just not put any claims through under the primary or use the newer Primary insurance. When I got the new primary, it was at no cost to me, so I just accepted it, thinking I could use it for back up and just continue using my old insurance. Then I heard that when I go to the doc that I would have to use the new as primary and then the old insurance would now be secondary. I can't cancel the insurance because it was bought on a cafeteria plan and IRS won't allow cancellations unless a major thing has happened (birth, death, divorce, etc). Can anyone help me??? ETA: The issue is that what would cost me only $30 with the older insurance, would end up costing me a lot more, because it's a $2000 procedure and I have a $1000 deductible and if even the old insurance would pick up part of it, most of the time the new primary won't cover this procedure, and then the old secondary won't either, even though they have in the past. My question is: The doctors office does not even know about the new primary yet, do I even have to tell them???

Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration: Is this a good choice for a job path? I'm a young mother with two kids. My fiancee works during the days but we need a supplemental income to help pay the bills and take some pressure off of us. There's a small medical school nearby that offers a medical insurance billing and office administration program. It's approx. 7 months or so (I believe) and you go m-th from 6-10. They help with career placement after you're done with the program. When all is said and done I need a job that can have a somewhat flexible schedule (I love staying home with my girls as much as possible) that pays decent. If you know anything about this field, PLEASE- pass on the knowledge! I could really use some advice here. If I have health insurance, should I not pay for certain coverages on my car insurance? I have health insurance with HealthNet. For car insurance, there seems to be 3 major items for coverage: -BODILY INJURY LIABILITY -PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY -UNINSURED MOTORIST & UNDERINSURED MOTORIST I'm under the impression that the third item is health insurance *for me* if I get into an accident. Why do I want that if I am paying for medical insurance anyway? Should I minimize coverage on this item?
Individual Health Insurance Plans - Medical history not perfect? anyone know of any affordable insurance plans out there...health insurance, preferably with a deductable only on ER and Hospitalization costs.... and initial "co-pay only" on visits and such...Rx.... my medical history isn't the best, but no major health issues...just some past med. history that could make it difficult for me to be insurred.
Medical insurance billing and office administration- good choice for a job field? I'm a young mother with two kids. My fiancee works during the days but we need a supplemental income to help pay the bills and take some pressure off of us. There's a small medical school nearby that offers a medical insurance billing and office administration program. It's approx. 7 months or so (I believe) and you go m-th from 6-10. They help with career placement after you're done with the program. When all is said and done I need a job that can have a somewhat flexible schedule (I love staying home with my girls as much as possible) that pays decent. If you know anything about this field, PLEASE- pass on the knowledge! I could really use some advice here. I've already been to college and had no idea what I wanted to major in and just wasted time and money. I don't want to do this again. So yeah- if you've got any info on this field please share :) thanks all!
Am i able to get a medical discharge due to an injury in basic training 8 months ago that is now bothering me? I am currently an army reservist. In basic training(8 months ago) i dislocated my shoulder and was taken to the ER for relocation. At the time an option to see a med board for medical discharge was presented to me but i opted to continue training. 8 months later i am having a lot of dislocations and pain in that same shoulder. Is it possible to get a medical discharge now? I tried to see the va but was told that without a discharge that i was ineligable to be seen. What is the first step to a medical discharge, How long is the process and will my shoulder be covered if major sergery is nessasary? Any help will be greatly appreciated. I have no medical insurance and im in a lot of pain. i am triing to get this taken care of as soon as possible.
Major cities are being used in toxic community torts for illegal bioweapons testing? Whose job to stop it? The toxins are being distributed through EPA mandated fuels, and toxic concentration and shifts have been measured by EPA "Clean Air Programs" since 2000. Health data is being collected under HIPPA laws and corresponding state legislation, while the major US Medical Universities provide specific data. The biostatitician funding for these illegal epidemiology studies (experiments) are funded by funds from the National Institutes of Health. The Police, FBI and Department of Justice don't deny it's a crime or that it's going on, but all have claimed not to have jurisdiction. The resultant rises in healthcare, medical insurance, and pharmacuetical costs driven by the resultant increase in healthcare demand by this corporate collusion are ruining the American middle class. It's controlled by distribuition, exposure time and location to the ground. It's the genetic biotoxin experimentation we were warned about by bioethictists when deciphering the genome code. So whose job is it to stop it?
