What to do for acute toothache on Sunday night? My husband has really bad toothache pain and the only thing that is relieving it at all is ice water but I know that using ice water is only increasing the length of time it will hurt... but stopping the ice water causes too much pain for him to put up with so he gets the water again... We're also students with NO dental insurance and NO medical insurance except the really crappy Student insurance offered by our university (Ameritas) which doesn't have a dental part. We also have NO money because we live on student loans... Any ideas? We live in Lincoln, Nebraska if it matters. University dental center is expensive; they won't see him for free; it will most likely cost hundreds for a root canal. I already thought about Oragel but... does it work if it's on a tooth that has a filling on it? It's not an open cavity. Would putting it just on the gum help?
