How much does a full body scan cost and is it covered by insurance if taken electively for prevention? Let's say I want to find any problems in my body and want to take a scan of my entire body - would insurance cover it and if not how much would it cost and would I ask my primary physician to take it?

Has anyone out there had the radioactive pill and body scan to destroy thyroid? I have been diagnosed with graves disease related to my thyroid. My endocrynologist wants me to take a radioactive pill and body scan to destroy my thyroid next week. He will then have me on thyroid medicine the rest of my life with periodic blood tests. Has anyone out there experienced this procedure? If so, please discuss it with me.

Where can you go to get a complete body scan? I heard on tv a few years ago that there are places you can go to get a total body scan. I sometimes feel like my heart is racing and my fingers get numb and my insurance will not approve all kinds of test so would it be wise to pay privately for a total body scan. 48hrs after a CT scan with contrast medium I have developed a body rash. How long can I expect this to last.?
